Your Bible Lesson For The Day
There Is A God. So What Should You Do?
If you were a disaster victim, and you heard that relief trucks with bottles of water and food that could save your life had arrived in your area, yet you did not go to get some, you would be foolish. In the same way, you have learned through nature and your conscience that there is a God, and if you did not act on that information, you would be foolish.
Acts 17:26,27 tell us, “And he made from one blood every nation of men to dwell upon all the face of the earth, . . .for them to seek God, so at least they might grope after him and find him.” From the beginning and down through the ages God has given nations of people a time and a place to live. He did so to give them the opportunity to seek him out and find him. He has given you your time and place in this world to live for the purpose of seeking him out and finding him. That is a big reason for your being here on earth.
Accordingly, God’s Word in Isaiah 55:6 urges you to do this: “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near.” The God who has made himself known to you through nature and your conscience is the God who is the Judge. But at the present time he is the gracious and loving God and offers forgiveness of sins and salvation for the sake of Jesus Christ, whose sacrificial death paid for the sins of everyone, including yours. But the day is coming when God will Judge all the people of the earth in righteousness. Then it will be too late to find him that merciful and loving God who forgives sins and offers eternal salvation. Then he will be the righteous Judge who condemns all who rejected his offering forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation through his Son Jesus Christ.
Yes, there is a God. So what should you do? Seek him out and find him now while you have the opportunity to find him that loving and forgiving God for Jesus’ sake. God has given you the knowledge through nature and your conscience that he exists. So don’t be foolish and fail to act on that information while God gives you the chance to do so.
